About Comerica Bank Tower

Comerica Bank Tower was designed by the prestigious team of Philip Johnson and John Burgee Architects of New York. The 1.7 million square feet, 60-story building was completed in 1987, and was the last high-rise building to be completed in downtown Dallas until 2007. Comerica Bank Tower compliments the Dallas skyline as the third tallest skyscraper in the city.

It has been said there will never be another building of its kind built in the modern age, due to lush materials used and the architects’ attention to detail. The lobby displays three kinds of marble from Central Italy and the Mediterranean coast of Spain. Botticino Classico marble adorns the walls and floors of the main lobby, and throughout the building in every elevator lobby and restroom. During construction, the entire quarry was purchased in order to precisely book match the marble as it was installed. Cherry wood production in the United States was stalled for six months due to the large amount ordered for construction of the five-floor banking and stock exchange hall. The 28 elevator cabs display six different types of wood from around the world. The building’s copper cross-vaulted roof is illuminated each night.

The Class “AA” office building is located at 1717 Main Street, which sits on a 1.8 acre block in the southeast quadrant of the Central Business District in downtown Dallas. Each floor of the 60-story building contains approximated 24,000 rentable square feet and offices 48 customers with over 4,000 employees. The building provides two parking facilities for customers and guests, one of which is located below the building with three levels of reserved and unreserved parking. The second facility is off-site in the eight-story Elm Street Garage, which is accessed via secured, climate controlled pedestrian walkways. Additionally, there are approximately 2,000 covered and 1,000 surface spaces within a two block radius of Comerica Bank Tower.

Comerica Bank Tower is the hub of the Downtown Dallas Underground Walkway System, which provides eateries, shopping, hair salons, banking, and other retail operations as amenities to downtown tenants and residents. Tunnel connections are provided to 1700 Pacific and Thanksgiving Tower to the north, and to Elm Street Garage to the east. Also, Comerica Bank Tower is only two blocks away from the nearest DART rail system.
